Wedding cakes can be an expensive line item on your wedding budget, costing hundreds or even thousands of pounds. Another option is obviously less expensive to make the cake yourself from scratch, if they have the skills, time or inclination. However, you might consider look in the streets to find a decent pie at a decent price.
First – Look in traditional supermarkets. All supermarkets – Morrison Asda, Tesco, etc do a series of what they call "special occasion" cakes that range from a very reasonable EUR 10-20. Now that All the supermarkets have a "best" collection, but also tend to do well frozen, delicious rich fruit cake. They are available in different sizes too, so you can layer if you want to create a more traditional cake.
On the whole, the supermarket cakes are well presented, but only come in white oil, which means that you need to decorate. Fortunately, it's easy to do! When surfing or Hobbycraft eBay you can find holders level and a selection of bright, pastel stones and foliage at very reasonable prices. For a white cake, instead of going overboard, you can always opt for something green foliage, very simple (it is prudent to put in a cake) and a top hat wedding – a sugar found the bride and groom or something you love.
Waitrose offers high quality cakes that are iced and decorated. The same for Debenhams and John Lewis. These cost a little more than the usual supermarket cakes because they are a little more special and professional, but a much lower cost a cake completely customized.
